DRDO RAC Recruitment 2023 (RAC): Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO), Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC) Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi-110054 has released a notification for the recruitment of a Project Scientist on a contractual basis for NMRL, MUMBAI.

In pursuit of self-reliance in critical technologies relevant to national security, DRDO formulates and executes programmes of scientific research, design, development, testing and evaluation of various systems, subsystems, devices and products required for the defence of the nation.

DRDO invites applications from highly qualified and competent Technologists for tenure-based engagement, purely on a contractual basis, as Project Scientist and if the requirement exists.

Educational Qualification for Project Scientist in DRDO:

Mechanical Engineering –

  • At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering
  • Min 15 years of practical experience in design/ production/ integration of large Naval system.

Chemical Engineering –

  • At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Technology from a recognized university or equivalent
  • Min 10 Years’ experience in the field of design or development or fabrication of chemical plants related with hydrogen

Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electrical –

  • At least First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics/ Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electronics & Control/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control Engg.
  • Min 10 Years’ experience in research or design or development or production or testing of electrical power generation/ controls/ Navigation/ Sensor systems on Naval Ships-systems

Chemical Engineering –

  • At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent
  • Min 7 Years’ experience in experimental research, design &development of process plant/operation &maintenance of process plant / Modelling and Process

Electrical Engineering/ Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering –

  • At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics/Electrical/ Electrical &Electronics/ Electronics & Communication /Electronics & Telecommunication / Electronics & Control /Electronics & Instrumentation / Instrumentation /Instrumentation &Control Engg. from a recognized university or equivalent
  • Min 7 Years’ experience in research or design of electrical systems and controls

Chemical Engineering –

  • At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent
  • Min 3 Years’ experience in experimental research, design &development of process plant / operation & maintenance of process plant / Modelling and Process

Physical Chemistry –

  • At least First-class Master’s Degree in Physical Chemistry from a recognized university or equivalent
  • Min 3 Years’ experience in Research / Synthesis of electro catalyst materials / electrochemical system

Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology –

At least First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology from a recognized university or equivalent

Chemistry –

At least First Class Master’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognized university or equivalent

Weightage for higher qualification will be given based on the following conditions:

(a) Weightage for higher qualification is equated to research experience and is given as:

(i) Post Graduate Qualification in Engineering: 2 years of weightage.

(ii) Doctorate Degree in Engineering: 4 years of weightage.

Age Limit:

  • For Project Scientist ‘F’ : not exceeding 55 years
  • For Project Scientist ‘E’ : not exceeding 50 years
  • For Project Scientist ‘D’: not exceeding 45 years
  • For Project Scientist ‘C’ : not exceeding 40 years
  • For Project Scientist ‘B’ : not exceeding 35 years

Salary Amount:

  • Project Scientist ‘B’ (Consolidated Pay per month (Rs.) : 90,789/- )
  • Project Scientist ‘C’ (Consolidated Pay per month (Rs.) : 1,08,073/- ) –
  • Project Scientist ‘D’ (Consolidated Pay per month (Rs.) : 1,24,612/-) – 04 Vacancies

  • Project Scientist ‘F’ (Consolidated Pay per month (Rs.) : 22,0,717/-) – 04 Vacancies

Required Documents for DRDO RAC Recruitment:

  1. Date of Birth (DOB) proof: Self-attested Matriculation certificate/High School certificate/Birth Certificate issued by appropriate Local Authority etc. Ensure that DOB proof mentions birth date.
  2. A recent passport-size colour photograph (size not exceeding 30 KB; resolution of 110 x 140 pixels).
  3. Scanned sample of candidate’s signature.
  4. Self-attested certificates/testimonials regarding Essential and Higher qualification along with mark sheets, caste, ex-servicemen, Disability certificates (wherever applicable), employment and experience etc.
  5. The candidates, whether in Govt Service or in Govt owned organisations, should upload a signed declaration (as per the proforma available at RAC website) that they have informed their Cadre Controlling Authority (CCA) in writing regarding their application for the post of Scientist in DRDO.
  6. In case of mismatch in candidate name and/or parent(s) name(s) of the candidate as mentioned in the application form with any of the documents/certificates being uploaded, the relevant affidavit in support shall essentially be uploaded.
  7. If any document/certificate furnished is in a language other than English or Hindi, a duly self-attested transcript of the same should be attached.
  8. Candidates should attach all experience certificates and salary slips as proof of pay drawn for the experience claimed. The period of experience (date of joining/date of leaving/current job status) claimed should be easily verifiable from the salary slips/experience certificates/documents attached.   9. Upload requisite caste/ disability certificate, in case you belong to SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Divyang category.
  10. Upload Release certificate in case you are a retired Armed Forces personnel. In case Age relaxation is being sought then the candidate must ensure that the age relaxation under Ex-serviceman category has not been claimed previously and relevant proof is required to be uploaded for the same.

Application Fee & Mode Of Payment:

General, OBC and EWS male candidates are required to pay a non-refundable non-transferable application fee of Rs. 100/- (Rs. One Hundred only) payable online only while filling form. There is no application fee for SC/ST/Divyang and Women candidates.

Screening/ Shortlisting:

All applications received within due date will be screened and shortlisted for further selection process by adopting any one or more of the following methods:

  1. On the basis of educational qualifications and / experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement duly supported by the Documentary evidence
  2. Relevance of experience as filled in application by candidates
  3. On the basis of Desirable Qualification (DQ), if more than one DQ is prescribed, on any one or all of the DQs
  4. By holding a Screening Committee Meeting including Technical Experts from Industry and Academia

Selection Procedure:

  1. The shortlisted candidates will be advised to appear for a final personal interview to be conducted as per rules at the venue and date, which will be intimated through the call letter.
  2. Candidates serving in Govt. or in Govt. owned organizations will be required to produce a copy of proof of their communication with their employer i.e. the intimation regarding their application for the desired post and acknowledgement received from the employer regarding their application for the said post.
  3. The final selection of candidates will be purely on the basis of merit of marks scored by a candidate in the final personal interview only. The minimum qualifying marks required by the candidate in the personal interview for consideration for selection are 70% for all Unreserved vacancies and 60% for all reserved vacancies.
